WELCOME to our Commonwealth visitors

THENUE Housing is saying hello to the Commonwealth with just over two weeks to go until Glasgow’s sporting spectacular.

The housing association which has offices on London Road in the east end has adorned its railing with banners costing £160 each welcoming visitors and athletes to the city.

The offices are a prime location given their proximity to the Athletes’ Village, the Hockey Centre and the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

This week Thenue which has homes across the city and a large number in the east end said it was proud to be saying hello to the massive influx of sporting stars and visitors.

Chief Executive Charlie Turner and Area Services Officer Carolyn McGowan, who are both volunteer ‘Clydesiders’, said : “Glasgow is the friendly city and these are known as the Friendly Games. So what better way to salute the competitors and those supporting them than to say a big Scottish welcome from us.

“London Road is an important route between the city and venues along with the Athletes’ Village so we’re sure plenty of people will see our banners.”
