A major housing boost for Bridgeton has been formally given the go ahead by Thenue Housing.

The Association has signed the deal appointing suppliers to carry out the £5.7 million development of new homes and flats.

They are being built at a site known locally as "the playground" and reflects Thenue's strong commitment to keep building much-needed homes for the community.

Thirty one flats and houses for rent are under construction at Dunn Street, Main Street and Rumford Street, Bridgeton. They are due for completion later this year with the exciting news that a second phase of an additional 16 houses may follow.

Suppliers including the main contractor CCG and architects MAST Architects Ltd, were on hand along with others to witness Thenue Chair, Yvonne McShea and fellow Committee member Willie Redmond, approve the work.

Thenue is also carrying out £1.9 million worth of improvements to tenements in Bridgeton at Dale Path and Reid Street.

Charlie Turner, Chief Executive, said "These new homes are much needed and our development at the site known to local people as the playground will make a real difference. They will be greatly welcomed by the community."
