Thank you to tenants and staff who were around at time of 1995 stock transfer

A SPECIAL anniversary was commemorated this week at Thenue Housing – 21 years on from its first-ever stock transfer.
The Association chose to mark the occasion by thanking tenants and staff members who were involved in the event in November 1995.
A special feature of this year’s AGM was the handover of bouquets to all eight - comprising of four tenants and four Thenue staff – seven of whom are pictured.
The Association wanted to recognise the significance of the transfer which transformed Thenue
The past 21 years have been notable for the substantial growth of Thenue. Much has changed since 1995 – notably the name being altered from Thenew to Thenue and a move to much bigger offices in 2012.

Thenue began life in October 1979 in a small basement office in Anderston with one member of staff.
The organisation was originally created to provide development and management services to associations that were too small to employ their own staff.
The move to the east end of the city in 1995 meant that Thenue became the landlord after a resounding ‘yes’ ballot of tenants of Scottish Homes, (the national housing agency at that time). It purchased the housing stock resulting in a transfer of 1,452 tenants, two housing co-operatives, (Fairburn and Claythorne), and twelve members of staff.
That initial stock transfer which has since proved to be a great success. Thenue now own and manage 2,819 properties and factor a further 593 homes.
Chief Executive Charles Turner said: “Twenty one years on from an event that transformed Thenue into a significant landlord, we thought it worthwhile to mark it by saying thanks to the staff who were there at the time and our Member tenants who have remained with us. They are part of the success story of Thenue and we thought it highly appropriate to recognise that.”
