It was announced by Ofgem on Friday, that the energy default tariff change is coming into effect from the 1st of October, you may be worrying about not being able to pay your fuel bills.
If you're on a default tariff (standard tariff) and paying by direct your annual bill could now reach £3,549 a year. Or if you're a prepayment customer, this could reach £3,608.
It’s important to note that these figures are based on the UK average, and do not reflect everyone. A better way to work out how much you will be using, is to find out how much you pay “price per unit” for your gas and electric. The capped unit price has been announced
New Price Cap Rates from 1st October 2022
Gas Unit Rate 14.7p Electric Unit Rate 51.89p
Gas Standing Charge 28.49p Electric Standing Charge 46.36p
If you’re struggling to afford your gas and electricity bills, contact your supplier to discuss ways to pay what you owe them.
Your supplier has to help you come to a solution. You should try to negotiate a deal that works for both of you. If you don’t try to negotiate with your supplier, they might threaten to disconnect you.
Going forward we will be sharing practical tips than can help you reduce how much energy you use, to help keep your bills down.
